OUR METHOD

Our drones equipped with RGB and thermal radiometric sensors detect hot-spots by providing a rich set of accurate data to eliminate faults and diagnose them in a timely manner, in order to minimize power losses and maximize energy production of photovoltaic and agrivoltaic parks.

Overview

The solar industry is growing at a high rate with global installed capacity exceeding 850 GW. Regular inspections are critical in PV and agri-voltaic parks to minimize power losses and maintain high performance because, PV modules, are prone to manufacturing defects and mechanical damage.

Over time, PV modules have a "physiological" performance decline of about 0.5-3% each year. Early detection of defects and malfunctions are important therefore, to correct the anomalies in order to avoid sharp declines in power generation.  However, manual inspection methods using portable chambers are not efficient enough, requiring, in addition, time and high cost.

How drones can be used

Visual and thermographic inspection on PV parks using UAS (Unmanned Aircraft Systems) is a virtuous approach in the renewable and sustainable energy market. These systems can be used throughout the entire life cycle of the PV park: from the design phase, through the construction phase to Operations & Maintenance.

The use of drones makes it possible to examine large-scale PV parks quickly and cost-effectively, while at the same time obtaining precise and accurate data indicating module malfunctions, such as hot-spots and cracks, to address these proactively to minimize maintenance costs and downtime.

Why NETF DRONE

We provide our experience and capabilities in flight missions and Big Data Anaytics to provide ultra-high precision outputs in the design, construction phase and for the Operations & Maintenance activities of solar farms.

Our UAS, equipped with state-of-the-art RGB and thermal radiometric sensors, enable anomaly detection and maximize output, saving up to 60% inspection time and cost.

The results obtained are reported on a report prepared by our UNI EN ISO 9712 Level II thermographic operator containing a summary of the anomalies detected. In addition, in our cloud platform it will be possible to visualize the results of aerial inspections, with an exportable, georeferenced and interactive dataset.
