Overview
In recent decades, the global wind turbine industry has increased significantly due to the growing interest in wind power as an alternative to fossil fuels.
Despite the inherent advantages of using it, the maintenance of wind farm turbines is particularly difficult due to several factors. Indeed, the turbines are located in hard-to-reach offshore and onshore areas and have a height of about 100-140 meters above the ground. In addition, because turbine blades are exposed to a very hostile environment, such as changes in temperature and humidity, corrosion, and changing loads caused by wind, they have a high risk of failure.
Wind turbine components may also contain manufacturing defects and damage incurred during operation due to lightning strikes, collision with birds and insects, corrosion, and accumulation of dirt or ice.

How drones can be used
Aerial inspection of wind turbines using UAS (Unmanned Aircraft Systems) is faster, cheaper, and safer than traditional inspection methods, such as on ropes or elevated platforms.
Inspection based on drones equipped with specific sensors provides a detailed analysis of the parts that make up the entire structure, i.e., tower, blades, nacelle and hub, highlighting anomalies such as corrosion, cracks, water seepage and more.
UAS, therefore, provide superior data that help maximize the energy production of wind farms and reduce both plant downtime and OPEX (Operating Expense).
Why NETF DRONE
We bring our experience and capabilities in flight missions and Big Data Anaytics to bear to provide ultra-high precision wind turbine inspection results.
Our UAS systems, equipped with state-of-the-art RGB, thermal radiometric, and LiDAR sensors, enable rapid inspection of wind turbines by providing accurate data for damage and failure analysis invisible to the naked eye, allowing you to maximize production and achieve savings in inspection time and cost.
The results obtained will be reported on a report prepared by our experts, containing a summary of the faults found. In addition, in our cloud platform it will be possible to visualize the results of aerial inspections, with an exportable, georeferenced and interactive dataset.
